This one’s a classic accidental leak or so you think. How a company as big as Intel manages to do this I do not know. But it was their Spanish branch, to cut them some slack here. Here’s what they did: Spanish Apple site Faq-Mac.com spotted a competition advert from Intel Spain that was showing off a Core i5 MacBook Pro as a Grand Prize. Pretty sweet I say!
This kind of confirms that Apple is indeed bringing more power to the MacBook Pro line in order to stay as relevant as possible in the competitive market. The announcement is expected to take place at the end of this month when a major Apple event is expected to take place. The actual date is supposed to be on or around the 27th of January 2010. If it is does take place, it will take place at the Yerba Buena Center where Apple has done some major events before.
In the meantime, Intel Spain wasn’t the only one responsible here because it seems like the advert has gone out globally. It seems to be a part of the Intel Edge Program that offers employees of retail stores that sell Intel products some value added services like training and special discounts. This was part of that. But before all of this is over, Apple will either be congratulating themselves on a controlled lead done well or they will be placing an angry call to Intel. Either way, now there is even more buzz in the market about Apple that stealing the thunder away from even more manufacturers as CES 2010 starts to fade from everybody’s memory.
Right now, it seems highly likely that any major software update that Apple makes to the iPhone or the OS X will contain references that will give the tablet away. Hence they are likely to do a release that captures everything together and lets us go in a state of shock and awe.
